Warning Over Suspicions Incident in Normanby

Officers are warning residents in the Normanby area to be vigilant following reports of a suspicious man targeting elderly victims.

An incident occurred on Friday 26th July when a man knocked on the door of a property in the Flatts Lane area. The man asked the female victim if he could have some tin foil to assist with a car maintenance problem.

When the victim went inside to help him, the man entered the property and stole the victim’s purse containing cash and a sentimental photo

The man is described as being in his late 40s to early 50s, of stocky build and around 5 ft 7” tall and he had grey hair and was clean shaven. He also spoke with a local accent and was wearing a navy blue t-shirt and was possibly driving a white vehicle.

It is believed the man had attended another address in the area some time during last week using the same approach but was turned away by the resident.

Anyone with information regarding the man or the incidents is asked to contact PCSO Rebecca Brogan from Cleveland Police on 101, quoting event number 127099.

Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously via its website at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by phoning 0800 555 111.
