Appeal after Burglary in Middlesbrough

Police are appealing for information following a house burglary in Middlesbrough.

The elderly victim allowed a man into the house on Birtley Avenue for a glass of water. It was reported that the man then asked to use the toilet but took around £50 from a handbag and left the property.

He was described as around 30 years old, slim build, 5’10” tall and having scruffy black hair. He had a local accent and was said to be wearing a grey tracksuit.

Anyone with information, including nearby private CCTV, is asked to contact PC Jonathon Collins via the non-emergency 101 number, quoting the event number 117446.
