Police Distribute 1,200 Beer Mats to Appeal to Find Naheed Khan

Officers investigating the disappearance of Naheed Khan have teamed up with licensee’s throughout Middlesbrough town centre in a bid to find her.

Naheed, 43, is thought to have been last seen in central Middlesbrough, and officers have today visited local pubs in the town centre area to hand over beer mats and posters with the aim of raising awareness so that people who may have information as to her whereabouts come forward.

The Twisted Lip on Baker Street today put out the beer mats in the pub and 1,200 in total will be distributed to pubs around Southfield Road, Baker Street and Bedford Street.

Senior Investigating Officer, Chief Superintendent Jon Green, said: “The Twisted Lip is one of a number of popular pubs in a busy area of the town centre and by working directly with them, we hope to raise awareness of the investigation in the local community and inform people on how they can contact us with information.

“The pubs in Middlesbrough are always busy so the beer mats are a great tool in targeting people from both in and out of the area, particularly those travelling for football matches.

“We need as many people as possible to come forward and we are again urging anyone with information, no matter how insignificant they may think it is, to come forward as it could be the vital evidence that we need to help us trace Naheed.”

Owner of the Twisted Lip, Erica Saul said: “We are happy to assist police with their investigation and will place the beer mats throughout our premises with the hope that it encourages people with information come forward.
“We have already displayed posters raising awareness of the Naheed Khan appeal and will continue to support officers where needed.”

Anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, should contact Cleveland Police on 101 and say that they have information to help in the Naheed Khan case.

Information can also be passed anonymously via the UK Police Portal:

Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at

Naheed has links in Stockton, Middlesbrough and Thornaby. She is described as being of Asian appearance, of slim build and around 5ft 6” tall, with long, dark hair.
