Elwick Village Speeding |

Hello Residents, On Tuesday 6th October 2026, alongside PCSO Yasmin Calvert, we conducted a speed monitoring operation in Elwick Village following concerns raised by residents. In just 30 minutes, we monitored 65 vehicles, with 47 found to be exceeding the 20mph speed limit. We were both astonished and disappointed by the level of non-compliance. As your Rural West Neighbourhood Police Officer, road safety is one of my priorities. Speeding is one of the Fatal Four factors linked to serious and fatal collisions, and the 20mph limit is in place to protect residents, families and other vulnerable road users. All drivers identified on this occasion will receive a Police Speed Warning, which will be recorded on police systems and followed by a warning letter. I want to be clear that further enforcement will take place in Elwick Village. Future offences will result in prosecution being sought, and those who have received a warning should not expect further discretion. Thank you to those residents who continue to report concerns and support our work to make Elwick's roads safer. PC Connor Bide | ||
