On Tuesday 29th Sept 2026 PC 2104 Geoff Coggin and PC 3667 Ryan Humphries from Hartlepool neighbourhood police team  attended Summerhill Visitors Park Hartlepool.

The visit is an ongoing initiative with Summerhill, Fire Brigade, HBC, Hartlepool Schools and Police.

60 Year 6 pupils from Kingsley primary school attended and we delivered classroom-based educational inputs on Arson and Criminal damage.

After the inputs we then took time to show the children the police and fire brigade kit and equipment and then into the park to show and discuss the impact that fires have within the park.

We know that there have been issues with fires being started at Summerhill and this has negatively affected so many members of our community, young and old and even causing the popular play area to close at one point.

This was the third event this year and the purpose is to educate, understand and appreciate nature within the park and the value of regenerating something that had been mindlessly destroyed thus promoting community champions.
