A BMW M3 has been seized after police received multiple reports from members of the public regarding dangerous driving in the Belle Vue Way Tesco car park and surrounding areas. Officers were called after five separate members of the public reported concerns about the manner of driving of a black BMW M3, including excessive speed and anti-social driving behaviour within the busy Tesco car park. One caller reported the vehicle speeding out of the car park towards Burn Road and surrounding areas. In response to the concerns raised for the safety of pedestrians and other road users, PC 3396 Bide, the Burn Valley Ward Officer, attended and located the vehicle. Checks revealed the driver had previously been issued with a Section 59 warning. Due to the continued manner of driving and excessive speed, a further Section 59 warning was issued and the vehicle was subsequently seized. Further inspection of the vehicle identified a number of offences. The BMW was being driven without a front registration plate displayed and both rear tyres were found to be in a dangerous condition, with the cords and ply exposed, rendering the vehicle unroadworthy. The driver has been reported for summons and will be required to attend court at a later date. The vehicle has also been impounded. PC 3396 Bide, Burn Valley Ward Officer, said: "Dangerous and anti-social driving will not be tolerated. The condition of this vehicle, particularly the rear tyres, posed a significant risk not only to the driver but to other road users and pedestrians. I would like to thank the members of the public who took the time to report their concerns, allowing us to take swift action and remove this vehicle from the road." We encourage anyone who witnesses dangerous or anti-social driving to report it. The information provided by the public plays a vital role in helping us keep our communities and roads safe. 🚔 In an emergency, or where there is an immediate threat to life or serious injury, always call 999.
