First businesses in Cleveland accredited as being a safe space for everyone |
||
|
The first 10 businesses have been accredited through CURV's Businesses Against Abuse scheme to help protect customers and be a safe place for people in Cleveland. The Businesses Against Abuse (BAA) initiative is designed to tackle violence against women and girls, child exploitation and knife crime. Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, in Hartlepool, was one of the first businesses to receive the accreditation. Staff have received specialist training from partners including Ivison Trust, ARCH Teesside, St John Ambulance and Eva's House, to help tackle violence against women and girls, child exploitation and knife crime. They’ve also been equipped with bleed control kits and cabinets, ensuring staff can provide life-saving first aid if needed. Delivered by the Cleveland Unit for the Reduction of Violence, this work is helping make our town centres safer places for everyone.
