Local Priorities - Roads Policing |

On 28/12/2025 Guisborough Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) recovered a vehicle parked on Somerset Crescent, Skelton, after it was reported to us for having no valid road tax.
We carried out checks before making the decision to remove the vehicle. Although the local council is usually the correct place to report such issues, police do have powers to take vehicles that do not have correct legal documents whilst on a public highway. We consider each report on a case-by-case basis before deciding whether it is suitable for us to act.
In this case, we decided that local residents would benefit from its removal as it had been parked for months and there was a suspicion of it being driven some of the time.
Please consider reporting untaxed vehicles to the local council. If you wish to report vehicles causing a nuisance locally, you can contact Cleveland Police via 101 or through our website: Home | Cleveland Police
