❗Parents and carers in Hardwick – do you know where your children are and what they’re doing?❗
We’re making an urgent appeal to parents and carers in the Hardwick area of Stockton to ensure they know where their children are and what they’re doing as police and our colleagues Cleveland Fire Brigade UK deal with a number of bonfires.
Large fires in areas including Carburt Road/High Newham Road and Wolviston Walk have now been safely extinguished after large groups of young people were reported to be throwing fireworks into the flames, with them going off unpredictably and in various directions.
We are sorry to report that fireworks were also aimed at fire crews while they were simply trying to do their job and extinguish the fires.
Obviously, this is extremely dangerous and could also have caused serious injury to the youngsters, other people and property in the area.
Our message to parents and carers is – if your child is not at home and is out on the streets in Hardwick, please try to contact them and speak to them about the dangers of such behaviour, or bring them home if possible to prevent further fires being set in the area creating more demand on emergency services. | ||
