Loftus Ward Update

Loftus PCSO June Update

During the month of June, Loftus ward received 65 reports of crime. In total there were 5 reports of criminal damage and 3 of these were in relation to damage to the windows to a property in Larch Court. This is a Beyond Housing property and Police and Beyond Housing have worked in partnership to safeguard and support the tenant whilst the Police investigation took place. One male suspect was interviewed in relation to the damage. Due to evidential issues he was not charged, but police action appears to have prevented any further incidents.

During the month there was a burglary to a residential property in the Loftus area. There is currently an ongoing Police Investigation in relation to this and I will provide the outcome in due course. In the meantime, please consider the security of your homes and ensure that doors are locked and secured at all times. We all become complacent of this, especially during periods of good weather.

There were 23 reports of anti-social behaviour. Eleven of these these incidents were in relation to off road bikes / motorcycles being ridden in an anti-social manner. As you know, we will normally not pursue these vehicles, but if sufficient information is available, we will follow up on all reports. On 3/7/25 we were able to follow up on these reports, visit houses in Liverton Mines and seize two motor bikes.

Eight of the anti-social behaviour reports are in relation to neighbour disputes. Partnership work between Police, Redcar and Cleveland Council and Beyond Housing is taking place to problem solve and address the issues.

Police and Redcar and Cleveland ASB Officer worked in partnership and issued a Loftus youth with an Acceptable Behaviour Agreement (ABA). This is a result of unacceptable behaviour repeatedly being identified during a 12 month period. The ABA is the next step in the process to address anti-social behaviour and is a voluntary agreement by youth and parent / guardian. The agreement will contain conditions regarding their behaviour that they agree to abide by. Breaching the agreement will lead to more formal action, possibly through the courts.

I am pleased to report that, since issuing a banning notice to a youth preventing him from attending Loftus Library, staff have reported no further issues of anti-social behaviour. We will continue to visit the library and monitor this situation to ensure there isn’t a re-occurrence of previous problems. This will be a focus during the summer months.

On the 5/7/25 Loftus Neighbourhood Police Officers seized a white Mini Cooper which was located parked in the Carlin How area. The seizure was due to of community intelligence. Residents informed us of their concerns regarding the vehicle. The vehicle was found to have no tax or insurance and was declared as off road.
