Local Priorities: Road Safety Actions

Dear Resident,

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road Safety Issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

In recent months, Guisborough local policing team has seized at least five vehicles in Skelton and Guisborough.

Two vans and a car were all linked to one household. Each of these was not road legal and displaying false registration plates. A separate car was uninsured whilst seen by police being driven and was therefore seized on Baysdale Court, Skelton. Separately, an off-road bike was spotted by police on Rievaulx Road being ridden in a nuisance manner and without relevant documents. As police approached the vehicle, the rider abandoned it and ran off into the estate. The bike was therefore seized.

Only one of these vehicles was legitimately claimed at a later date. Four others were therefore in line to be crushed.
